Grand Rutherglen Topaque
Wine
Pfeiffer Grand Rutherglen Topaque is made with Muscadelle grapes harvested towards the end of the growing season, ensuring sugar levels are high.
The grapes are crushed into static fermenters where they cold soak for three days. Fermentation is only just allowed to begin before the juice is pressed into stainless steel tanks.
It is then fortified with a neutral grape spirit and clarified. The resulting sweet wine is transferred to various barrels and casks, most parcels kept separate with only certain selections blended. The parcels mature for 3-30 years.
The ageing process produces the wine's rich, complex flavours. Some of Pfeiffer's oldest parcels of Muscadelle are included in the final blend, which has an average age of 18 years.
Rich brown, Pfeiffer Grand Rutherglen Topaque is luscious and intense, displaying aged characters of toffee and malt while still remaining fresh. Drink on release.
